Russia's Black Sea Oil Export Capacity Curtailed Amid Drone Attacks

Russia's largest Black Sea oil terminal has halted operations as drone threats compound supply disruptions affecting global crude markets.

Russia's primary crude export facility on the Black Sea has ceased loading operations in recent days, following a pattern of escalating drone strikes targeting the nation's oil infrastructure. According to Bloomberg, the Sheskharis terminal at Novorossiysk has not loaded a tanker since late July, marking a significant disruption to international supply flows. The facility had been processing approximately 650,000 barrels per day during the first half of the year, underscoring the magnitude of lost export capacity.

The outage compounds ongoing supply constraints from neighboring infrastructure. The Caspian Pipeline Consortium terminal, which also operates in the region, recently experienced similar disruptions from drone attacks, further restricting the volume of Russian crude reaching global markets through these vital export corridors. Together, these operational suspensions represent a substantial tightening of supply channels that have traditionally served as major conduits for Russian energy exports.

The cumulative effect of these disruptions raises questions about pricing pressures and supply reliability in global oil markets, particularly as geopolitical tensions continue to impact Russia's energy infrastructure and its ability to maintain consistent export volumes to international buyers.
