Delta Air Lines has emerged as the preferred carrier among American travelers, according to a new YouGov survey of more than 23,000 consumers. The Atlanta-based airline jumped ahead of competitors American Airlines and United Airlines in consideration for future bookings, while also securing the top spot for overall quality satisfaction among current and former passengers.
For Dallas business travelers and companies managing travel budgets, Delta's momentum carries real implications. The airline's fourth consecutive top ranking in premium economy satisfaction—combined with strong showings in first class and economy segments—suggests the carrier is investing heavily in service delivery. This positioning could influence how local firms allocate corporate travel spending and negotiate contracts with major carriers.
The study also revealed vulnerability among budget carriers. Spirit Airlines' collapse this month marked the only satisfaction decline among all surveyed carriers, signaling that low-cost models face sustainability challenges when customer experience falters. Southwest, Frontier, and JetBlue are positioned to capture Spirit's former passengers, though Frontier faces pressure to improve its reputation, as it ranked only above Spirit in the satisfaction rankings.
