CyrusOne, the Dallas-based data center developer, has named John Hatem as its new chief executive officer, marking a leadership transition as the company adapts to life under private equity ownership. According to the Dallas Business Journal, Hatem assumes the role immediately, bringing nearly two decades of experience with the organization. His appointment comes as the company enters a new phase following its $15 billion buyout by KKR and a BlackRock subsidiary, which took CyrusOne private.
Hatem's promotion represents a continuity of leadership during the post-acquisition period. The executive joined CyrusOne in 2011 and has held increasingly senior positions, most recently serving as president while also functioning as chief operating officer. His departure as COO comes after predecessor Eric Schwartz led the company through significant growth and the complex process of transitioning to private ownership, demonstrating successful stewardship during a transformative time.
CyrusOne operates a global portfolio of data center facilities spanning Arizona, Texas, Virginia, Japan, Germany, and France. The Dallas-headquartered firm, founded in 2000, has become a key player in the data center sector as demand for cloud computing and digital infrastructure continues to surge. Hatem's elevation to the top role positions the company to capitalize on these long-term industry tailwinds while executing KKR and BlackRock's investment strategy.
