Copper Stabilizes at $14,000 on Fed Rate Outlook Shift

Copper maintains elevated levels as softer U.S. rate expectations and supply constraints support the industrial metal.

According to Bloomberg Markets, copper consolidated trading after six consecutive weeks of gains, settling into a narrow price band near the $14,000 level. The metal's recent rally has been underpinned by a combination of structural supply tightness and shifting expectations around U.S. Federal Reserve policy, as markets price in a more accommodative rate environment ahead.

The outlook for softer interest rates has bolstered investor appetite for commodities, as lower borrowing costs typically reduce the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding assets like metals. Supply concerns continue to provide a floor for copper prices, as ongoing operational challenges and demand from the electrification and renewable energy sectors limit available inventory.
